On April 9th, Fjällräven NYC and Fjällräven Guide Henri de la Vega will be hiking to WBMS, in Harriman State Park, NY. You will learn skills such as camp crafting, tent set up, outdoor knots, camp cooking & much more at the William Brien Memorial Shelter. Before heading to the trail, we will meet at our Fjällräven SoHo location to enjoy some coffee & Swedish cinnamon buns, as well as a workshop with Henri, and an opportunity to shop our new spring/summer product. All guests will then be transported to the trail comfortably, in cars from Volvo Cars USA.

Join us for a moderate 7.5 mile day hike in Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park. We will visit several lakes, travel along the historic Appalachian trail and (if winter smiles down on us) enjoy it all on snowshoes.

We will provide a free shuttle from the Cold Spring Metro North train station for hikers using public transit. Drivers can meet us at the trail head.

Next up in the Catskills Fire Tower Challenge series we will be tackling both the Tremper Mountain and Upper Esopus Fire Towers in one trip! Introduced by the NYDEC, the Catskills Fire Tower Challenge involves hiking all 6 fire towers in the Catskills to earn a patch and be entered to win some cool hiking gear! Added in 2019, the Upper Esopus tower is the newest addition to the previous Catskills Fire Tower Challenge.

This hike is moderately challenging covering about 6.5 miles of total hiking. We will hike Tremper Mountain and tag the fire tower at its summit before heading to the Catskills Visitor Center where we will take a very short hike to visit the Upper Esopus Fire Tower.

After the hike we will head to Woodstock Brewery for a celebratory brew.

Lunch is included. Limited transportation from Cold Spring NY available, and discounts offered to hikers with cars who are willing to carpool.

Join us for our next hike in the public transit series as we make our way to Garrison NY to hike Sugarloaf Hill. Hikers will meet at the Garrison Metronorth station where we will begin our 7 mile hike with several great views of the Hudson River Valley. We rate this hike as moderate but think its great for beginners.

Introduced by the NYDEC, the Catskills Fire Tower Challenge involves hiking all 6 fire towers in the Catskills to earn a patch and be entered to win some cool hiking gear! Added in 2019, the Upper Esopus tower is the newest addition to the previous Catskills Fire Tower Challenge.

The hike is roughly 1/2 mile in total, just a short walk from the Catskills Visitor Center. A refreshing change from the often challenging Catskills terrain, this hike will focus on immersing ourselves in nature. We will have plenty of time to take a deeper examination of the forest through nature meditation and a tutorial (and materials) for botanical drawing.

Snacks, a mountain top picnic, and materials for drawing are included!

Balsam Lake Mountain Fire Tower is known for one of the best views in the Catskills and we enjoy the hike through the balsam fir forest just as much! This moderate hike is just over four miles and checks a peak off both the fire tower challenge and 3500 club lists. Snacks and a mountain top picnic are included!

We will be hiking from the base of Mount Beacon, up to the casino ruins on North Mount Beacon, to the fire tower on South Mount Beacon. From there, we will traverse along the back side of Breakneck Ridge, and down to the Cornish estate ruins in Cold Spring before finally making our way to downtown Cold Spring. Upon arriving in Cold Spring, hikers are welcome to explore the village of Cold Spring and take the metro north back to the city on their own time.

For those of you who are familiar with Mount Beacon, Breakneck Ridge, and Mount Taurus/Bull Hill, this hike may be especially interesting to experience how these East Hudson mountains are all connected.

Along the way, hikers will have the opportunity to check out a fire tower, and will see the incline railway ruins while enjoying beautiful views of the Hudson River and neighboring Storm King State Park. Afterwards, hikers will be free to explore the many cafes, breweries, restaurants and shops in the town of Beacon.
